Why do I wish to participate?

The short answer is that there is a need, and I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus, as we are all called to be. I am going because I am willing. The longer answer is more complex. I am aware that there are many needs closer to home, and I know I can faithfully serve God right where I am. I also recognize that traveling across the globe is a significant commitment of both time and resources. So why go?
One reason I have said yes to this experience is that I feel both called to serve and excited to meet fellow Christians beyond my own community. I’m eager to experience the culture of believers from around the world, not just the Americanized form of Christianity that I have always known. I want to support the parts of the body of Christ that may look different from me or worship in ways I am not accustomed to, knowing they are still my brothers and sisters in Christ. I have been in my comfort zone for a long time, and this opportunity invites me to step out in faith and say yes when God calls, even when it makes me a little nervous. I’m not sure if I am truly needed or how exactly I can contribute, but I know I can trust God completely.
The second reason I am attending is that my teenage daughter has also chosen to participate. I would not want her to travel so far without me, and I want to be present to support her throughout this experience. God has placed her in my care, and I take that responsibility very seriously. She desires to serve, and I want to help make that possible.
We continue to pray for wisdom and discernment, trusting that we have made the right decision, and we look forward to working alongside the mission team.
We are truly grateful for this opportunity!
